How to Fix The Waiting In Queue Error in Fortnite

Like most live service games, Fortnite sometimes forces players to wait in queues before being able to head into matches. However, this is mainly only the case when a new season is released. Most recently, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 Underground.

I had this message appear any time I dropped Fortnite during the end of the Fortnite OG Season. I’d have to wait around 30 minutes before I could jump into the game, and it all boils down to the amount of players trying to get into the game at once.

The sheer number of people trying to play Fortnite when the OG Season was ending was insane, and the servers are under a small amount of strain. Because things are looking tight right now, the “waiting for queue” message is there to ensure everyone can get into the game to play Fortnite. Leaker iFiremonkey reported queue times going well beyond 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, it appears that players can only wait until Epic Games lets everyone play the game. However, some players might be stuck on this message, which is a common issue. Thankfully, anyone who sees a countdown next to the “waiting for queue” message, should be let into the game. If you do not see a countdown for this message, it might be a good idea to drop the game, load it back up, and see if the message appears properly.

In the meantime, we recommend players on either console or PC follow the Fortnite Status Twitter account, as it typically notifies players when all hotfixes and updates go live. Additionally, Epic Games also has a dedicated Server Status page for Fortnite which indicates whether it is still undergoing maintenance and when it expects servers to be back up once more.
